Switch: American Movies based on Russian Books

I've recently started to build a page that list not Russian films, but English language movies that were inspired by Russian literature. So far I have 26 titles listed. And I'm trying find more that are available in America. The ones I really liked are: Lolita, Onegin & Doctor Zhivago.

Night Watch

I have finally watched Ночной дозор / Nochnoy Dozor / Night Watch.
Why did it take me so long? Well, my sister was the one who ordered the dvd. But it was out of stock, so she got it a week later. Then it took her more then 2 weeks to give it to me. And of cause only today I got around to see it. But what else is new ... ;)
I liked the film, though it's not "Matrix" or "Lord of the Rings", but there are scenes inspired by those movies, as well as "Blade" and "Prophecy". I would not call it truly original, but the story is an interesting take on war between good and evil. This film is definitely not your usual mystic thriller. But the ending was too sequel inspiring, as in too be continued. But then the movie is based on the first book from Lukyanenko's trilogy. All in all I give it 4 out of 5 stars :)

First Post

I'm a big fan of Movies and Russian Cinema in particular, especially period between 1970-1990.
Some time last year I've created Russian Movies site, and been updating it more then 7 month.
The site is more or less complete reference directory to Russian films in America. There is an alphabetical listing of available titles (over 3000), DVD page, awards pages, slowly growing actors & directors pages, and more. There is English language info for titles that have subtitles or translation. I'm also working on expanding my site into Russian Movies Database. I've also been adding some content not directly related to Russia, like Best Actors page, listing major award winners with links to fan pages & photo galleries.

Latest Russian movie that I'm about to watch - Nochnoy Dozor, in Russia has been more successful then SpiderMan 2. Will post my thoughts on it as soon as I finish watching it.
